Sage Health Centre’s dedicated support staff offers 24 hour assurance for clients; our clinical director, counsellors, doctors, psychiatrists and registered nurse have extensive addictions and mental health expertise. 

Clinical Director - Ed Biberdorf

Ed brings a large body of knowledge and exeperience in mental health and addictions and has worked in this field for over 30 years.  Previously, he worked for the local health authority as an addictions counsellor and was the clinical supervisor of adult services for the Phoenix Centre for many years.  He is a graduate of the University of Victoria and has taken numerous courses in counselling, psychopharmocology and addictions. He has taught courses in addictions for the provincial government and has conducted various workshops on motivational interviewing and addiction related topics.  He is experienced in working in 12-step models as well as other treatment modalities and is available to talk to employers and Employee and Family Assistance groups regarding addiction treatment and the services of Sage Health Centre.  When not working at Sage, you can find Ed floating along some lake or waist deep in a fast flowing river fishing.  If you would like information regarding services or employment at Sage Health Centre, please feel free to contact him.

Clinical Counsellor - Sue Adamson

Sue has been a passionate advocate for health and wellness for over 20 years; her current certifications include CPCA Registered Professional Counsellor, CACCF Canadian Contingent Alcohol and Drug Counsellor, BCRPA Aquatic Fitness, Group Fitness, Personal Training, Weight Training, Yoga Fitness, AAHRRP Medical Exercise Specialist, GCMN Nutritional Consultant and she is soon to complete the CACCF International Drug and Alcohol Counsellor designation.  Sue’s career has included successfully training individual clients from active rehabilitation to Olympic level athletes; she has designed, implemented, facilitated and/or co-coordinated a variety of cutting edge health and fitness programs at facility, agency, municipal, regional and provincial levels including the BC Women’s Hospital Osteofit Program, the University of Victoria’s Chronic Disease Self Management Program and the BCRPA Fitness Advisory Council.  Sue joined our team 2008; she specializes in supporting clients in an integrative approach to addictions recovery that incorporates 12- step concepts, and western and eastern philosophies including:  

• Clinical Counselling modalities such as Motivational Enhancement and Acceptance Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. 
• Mindfulness based relapse prevention modalities such as breath work, progressive muscle relaxation, visualization and meditation. 
• Nutritional counselling modalities such as the Canada’s Food Guide and the glycemic index. 
• Physical activity modalities such as cardiovascular, strength training and yoga. 
• Life skills coaching modalities such as Solution Focused Therapy.
